With more than 200 COATS Direct Drive Balancers submitted into the contest (many of which are almost three decades old), and more than 100 positive reviews from COATS customers, it’s clear that our patented direct drive balancers are the most reliable and accurate machines on the market. We’d like to thank everyone who entered the contest, and we hope that you continue to choose COATS equipment for your shop.
Abe and Jim Torro
Orange Auto Center
Abe and Jim Torro purchased Orange Auto Center in 1988, and inherited their grand-prize winning balancer in the transaction. Since then, they have continued to use the balancer daily. According to Abe Torro, they have never had a single issue with the balancer, and have only had to perform routine preventive maintenance on it over the past 22 years. The balancer will be 30 years old this July.
Jerry Maxwell and Pat Carter
Carter-Maxwell Auto Service
Carter-Maxwell was established in 1961 as a Goodyear race-tire distributor. Because Goodyear is the official tire of NASCAR, the shop is often called on to service cars for races in Texas. Co-owner Jerry Maxwell purchased the balancer that won runner-up five years ago from a shop that was going out of business, adding to the shop's collection of more than nine COATS direct drive balancers.
